School Districts Use IronSpire's Web-Based Collaboration Service to Get High Marks in Construction PORTLAND, OR - April 9, 2001 - IronSpire Inc., provider of communication management tools for construction, today announced its web-based IronSpire JobSite(TM) collaboration service has been selected for three school district construction projects in Oregon and Arizona. General contractors JE Dunn, P&C Construction, and DL Withers will utilize IronSpire JobSite for fast-track projects for the Beaverton and Gresham school districts in Oregon and the Paradise Valley School District in Arizona, respectively. "IronSpire can speed up communication on a fast-track project such as this one," says Doug Harrower, Senior Vice President of Operations for JE Dunn, the general contractor working with the Beaverton School District. "Plus, people on the peripheral, such as myself and the representative from the school district, can access IronSpire JobSite to monitor what is going on, and assist when needed."
School construction projects are publicly funded and must be finished by the first day of school, making it crucial for project managers to have the most efficient collaboration tools available. IronSpire's JobSite enables contractors to manage information flow across the construction team using a project-specific extranet that provides centralized access to all of a project's plans, documents and schedules. Subcontractors use the extranet to make requests for information, view changes and mark up plans for clarification. Using JobSite improves RFI turnaround time, ensures strong document version control, streamlines the supply-chain, and provides a searchable archive of all project documents for future reference.
"With taxpayers footing the bill, school construction projects need to be one hundred percent efficient," said Bob Ellis, CEO of IronSpire. "JobSite gives the district and the general contractor a clear view into the project, which makes everyone involved more efficient with fewer surprises."
District administration, the "owner" of the project, can use the extranet to view progress in real-time, reducing miscommunications and surprises, and facilitating faster decision making. The searchable project archive provides a platform for ongoing facilities maintenance and documentation in case of a liability dispute. Overall, accountability is improved and project costs are lowered through more efficient deployment of resources.
